Bibikhanim Complex

About event

The bibikhonim complex (Amir Timur jome’ mosque) is one of the largest historical structures in Central Asia. Historian Gidhosiddin Ali Yazdi in his work" Zafarnoma", " ...801 (ah) on the fourth day of Ramadan Sharif month of the year (may 10, 1399 ad) Amir Timur chose the best place in the capital for the mosque. Famous Masters and architects made up the project of this huge Imamate and began to build its foundation at the most prosperous moment..." The mosque is also called Bibikhanim mosque because it is headed by more Saraymulkhanim - Bibikhanim in the construction of the mosque.

The total area of the mosque is 167x109m with high towers at the corners, restored, which have not been preserved to us. Until the renovation, the jome’ mosque consisted of 6 architectural fragments not connected with each other.

In the middle of the Courtyard, by decree of Mirzo Ulugbek, in the middle of the 15th century, a huge lavh made of marble stone was installed (a special course in which the Koran is read). Its surroundings are decorated with elegant borders, Muqarnas, plant-like patterns and inscriptions.

The double grade gate is made of seven different iron alloy "haft Josh". On the circle-based surface of the dome of the mosque are inscribed verses of the Holy Quran, and the dome is decorated with turquoise tiles.
