On October 4, the Entracte theater agency will present the play "Einstein and Margarita". The play will be shown on the stage of the Uzbek National Drama Theater as part of the International Theater Festival.
The story of the relationship between the famous physicist Albert Einstein and the Soviet emigrant Margarita Konenkova became widely known recently, when Einstein's letters to Konenkova were sold at an auction. These letters revealed to the world an incredible love story between a genius and a married citizen of the USSR that lasted ten long years.
Playwright Alexander Gelman, inspired by this story, wrote the play "Almar", which included Einstein's reasoning about nuclear weapons, hints from researchers about Konenkova's espionage activities, and a lot of true love.
The play by director Alexander Marin is not a documentary reproduction of the correspondence between two historical figures. It is a reflection on how events could have developed at the last meeting of the heroes in fateful times for world history.
The premiere performances took place in June 2022. Since then, the play has been sold out in Russian theaters and successfully touring around the world.
The performance in Tashkent will be held at the invitation of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan.
