Concerts of Aziz Shokhakimov and the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra in Tashkent and Samarkand
At the invitation of the Foundation, the famous conductor Aziz Shokhakimov and the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, which he has led since 2017, will perform in Uzbekistan.
Concerts of conductor Aziz Shokhakimov and the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra will be held on January 31 at the Palace of International Forums "Uzbekistan" (Tashkent) and on February 1 at the Samarkand Regional Music and Drama Theater. These events are combined into one tour, within the framework of which the outstanding conductor, a native of Uzbekistan, will present a unique program on his native stage, demonstrating the virtuoso art of conducting an orchestra recognized on the international stage.
The concert program includes masterpieces of world classics, which will allow the audience to enjoy the emotional power and dramatic depth of the music performed:
- Ferit Tuzyun "Turkish Capriccio", filled with oriental rhythms and melodies;
- Sergei Rachmaninov Concerto No. 3 for piano and orchestra performed by Denis Kozhukhin, a pianist with performing technique and emotional depth;
- Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 5, one of the most iconic masterpieces of world classical music.
These concerts will be a unique opportunity for the Uzbek public to hear masterpieces of classical music performed by outstanding musicians, where the power of symphonic sound is organically combined with the virtuosity of the orchestra.
Aziz Shokhakimov
Artistic Director of the Tekfen Orchestra and Music Director of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. Aziz Shokhakimov continues to conquer world stages, conducting leading orchestras and opera productions. He has been awarded the Salzburg Festival Prize and a number of other awards, and has collaborated with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Vienna Symphonique, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and other renowned ensembles. His opera repertoire includes The Queen of Spades, Salome and Tosca. His creative energy and unique view of musical dramaturgy make each concert a bright and unforgettable event.
Denis Kozhukhin (piano)
Laureate of the Queen Elizabeth Competition, known for his performances with the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. His concerts have been held on the stages of Carnegie Hall, the Concertgebouw and the Musikverein. At the upcoming concerts, Kozhukhin will perform the famous Third Concerto by Rachmaninov, which is considered one of the most complex and emotional works in the piano repertoire.
Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra
Founded in 1992 as the Black Sea Chamber Orchestra, it currently unites musicians from 23 countries. Under the direction of Aziz Shokhakimov, who took over the orchestra in 2017, the ensemble demonstrates a unique artistic identity, combining classical repertoire with national instruments such as the Uzbek chang, Turkish oud and Azerbaijani kamancha.
The Foundation for the Development of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan was established in 2017 by the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The mission of the Foundation is to integrate the culture of Uzbekistan into the global cultural space, develop opportunities within the country by creating an inclusive and accessible environment in cultural institutions, renovating museums, developing patronage and forming the human resources of museums, theaters and other cultural institutions. The Foundation's projects cover several areas: art, literature, theatre, music, architecture, choreography, cinema. Using an interdisciplinary approach and uniting specialists from different countries, the Foundation promotes the development of cultural diplomacy between the CIS countries, Europe and Asia.
